it wanders

HuwEdwards · 23/04/2009 21:33

yep, wanders. It doesn't mean you are wondering about something, it means your mind wanders off the path of original thought.

fourkids · 23/04/2009 21:41

yeah, i sort of knew that...but then i thought it's actually wondering so i began to question...

Mine does both (at different times) and usually at work. Both the phrases you have used are being used in the correct context.

Unless you're in Wolverhampton and support the ' Wonderers'. It's baffling how a whole city gets it wrong but they seem quite happy about it.

I saw some amusing graffiti at the weekend. It was a 'public art' experiment where doodling was condoned. Someone was listing ways to impress the girls and mentioned, inter alia, literature. I still haven't worked out if they were being illiterate or deep&meaningful: they recommended "resighting Shakespeare".

TrillianAstra · 27/04/2009 09:30

at resighting Shakespeare.

Your mind wanders.

If wondering is going on, you are doing it, not your mind. 'I wonder' not 'my mind wonders'. That would be weird.

lol @ senua. Sign seen at the hospital where I work recently : 'please keeps doors closed, wondering patient' :-)

DadInsteadofMum · 27/04/2009 10:11

Maybe open doors stop the patient from being contantly curious and amazed?

TrillianAstra · 27/04/2009 10:13

If the doors are closed the patient can wonder what is on the other side. If they are open then he/she can see what's on the other side.
