I am writing a letter and want to put a comma at the end of each line in an address but one line ends with Ind. Est. Should it have a . or a ,

This is driving me mad. Someone help please.

Both, if you want to use the commas.

Though if you're typing the letter, I wouldn't use the commas at all.

If there is a comma at the end of every line, then I think I would put one after the full stop (Ind. Est.,).

Molesworth · 02/03/2009 12:58

I wouldn't bother with the commas. If you must use commas, why not write "Industrial Estate" in full?

fryalot · 02/03/2009 12:59

Ind. Est.,

(at least that's what I was taught to do when I was at typing college)

ChippyMinton · 02/03/2009 13:07

agree with molesworth on both points.
can't recall the last time i saw commas used in an address.

Hassled · 02/03/2009 13:08

Commas after address lines is just wrong. I also hate a comma after "Dear Ms Hasssled" or after "Yours sincerely".

Hassled · 02/03/2009 13:09

That should be "Commas after address lines are wrong." I should steer clear of Peadants' Corner .

Peadants Corner????
