They are not penicillin covered member of forums.

It is Mumsnet Oldies, hence MOLDIES.

Thank you.

Yes, well said Flame, that's been annoying me too.

12StoneNeedsToBe10 · 02/02/2009 15:45

ok

Rhubarb · 03/02/2009 13:16

Mouldies.

CreativeZen · 03/02/2009 13:19

Is there a need to even mention them anymore? In which case the spelling is irrelevant.

LadyMuck · 03/02/2009 13:24

Well as an oldie but not a "moldie", I don't think that the spelling is that precise tbh. I'm sure that they're all big enough to deal with being called mouldies.

throckenholt · 03/02/2009 13:28

this made me think of the Xfiles (have been watching reruns on tv lately - hadn't seen it for years). I always called Fox Moulder Mouldy (not Moldy).

Agree with your original premise though - it should be Moldy. Hmm Moldy or Moldie ?

BitOfFun · 03/02/2009 13:30

I thought they were called Mouldies because they'd gone off? See, it works on a number of levels...

eekamoose · 04/02/2009 13:58

Haven't been here all morning. Can someone please just tell me if the rev's thread was deleted? Can't find it!

LackaDAISYcal · 04/02/2009 14:00

lol BitofFun

AliceTheCamelHasGotTheHump · 04/02/2009 14:03

I know full well it's supposed to be moldie and have no intention of spelling it that way.

TrillianAstra · 04/02/2009 14:04

Uh oh, does this mean I've unintentionally been expressing my support for the 'Mouldies are bad' line by saying Mouldie rather than Moldie?

callalilies · 04/02/2009 14:04

I assumed it was a deliberate mistake.

kittywise · 04/02/2009 14:10

Well I think mouldie is highly appropriate.

eekamoose · 04/02/2009 14:29

Erm hello, can anyone answer my post of 13:58?

Or (whispers) are we not supposed to even mention it?

Tinker · 04/02/2009 14:32

I assumed it was deliberate as well.

ladycornyofsilke · 04/02/2009 14:32

What happened on that thread - did it kick off?

LadyMuck · 04/02/2009 14:34

Yep it has been deleted.

ladycornyofsilke · 04/02/2009 14:35

What happened on it?

whomovedmychocolate · 04/02/2009 14:37

Would 'fusty old buggers' be an acceptable alternative?

I like mouldies better. It's like auld in Scottish, describes the sentiment as well as the fact.

Also surely those who are part of it would appreciate us all mispelling it to discourage nooobies from applying to join?

AmIOdetteOrOdile · 04/02/2009 14:39

I type it as Mouldie and am very aware of what I am writing. In fact I believe I was one of the first......

It makes me chortle.

eekamoose · 04/02/2009 14:41

Thanks Ladym.

Tortington · 04/02/2009 20:53

i thought it was moldy singular - but got pulled for that the other day.

if plural moldies

singular moldy - no?

if not why not

a singular can't be a moldie- its wrong

SoMuchToBits · 04/02/2009 20:55

Well an oldie is an oldie not an oldy. So I think it is a moldie.

kittywise · 04/02/2009 21:33

Why did that thread get pulled, does anyone know? It really pees me off when that happens
