actually,it's mean to be a pedant about this as it made me laugh, but I saw a sign on the big purple vegetables which read OBOS
there were also 'advocardos' for sale

be grateful they didn't even attempt to spell aubergines! Honestly, fruit and veg shops etc are the worst perps of this kind of spelling/grammar abuse.

AlanPartridgeInAPearTree · 03/12/2008 13:40

Ah, but to be fair, the market stalls are often the worst for spelling mistakes and apostrophe's in the wrong place's BUT the traders generally have mental maths skills second to none!!

pania · 03/12/2008 13:46

Perhaps it is all a cunning marketing ploy to get your attention. OBOS would certainly get mine!

christMAScomesbutonceayear · 03/12/2008 14:11

yes,agree-their maths skills would put me to shame !
I certainly did notice OBOS - there were also clemintines

Reminds me of George Bush and the "potatoe" incident!

nopaddle · 04/12/2008 15:16

At the risk of being pedantic wasn't that Dan Quayle, not Bush?

ditheringdora · 05/12/2008 12:14

Hmmm, I'm sure it was Bush but he is such an easy target, I'm happy to stand corrected.

JackieNoCribForABed · 05/12/2008 12:15

I have a feeling it was Quayle too.

tearinghairout · 05/12/2008 12:17

A farm up the road from me has a huge sign up - POTTOES

They're on the right track, plural and no apostrophe, I suppose

AllFallDown · 05/12/2008 13:55

It was Dan Quayle. Who also explained his lack of knowledge of Latin America by explaining that he didn't speak latin. And who told us: "I believe space is almost infinite."
