Have we done 'disgusting'?

I just HATE the way 'disgusting' is used as a catch-all descriptor of strong dispproval. It's so lazy. To me disgusting means 'makes me feel nauseous' and council tax increases, overcrowded classrooms and fat cat bonuses do not make me feel nauseous - they make me angry, or shock me, or depress me or make me feel jealous or frustrated but they don't make me want to vomit.

However, it would seem that I am in the wrong. COED defines disgusting as 'adjective arousing revulsion or strong indignation'. I'm disgusted.

I dont often reply to threads within this topic, but... I imagine it is the same as "hate" is used. Lots of people will say "I hate!" when it isn't an emotion as strong as hate.
For some people, struggling with money, I can imagine how fat cat bonus news could make them feel as if they need to vomit.

Whilst I am in this topic... can somebody let me know whether the correct usage is ...? or ..?
