I think it has to be minutes plural see here - near the bottom.

oggsfrog · 24/09/2008 12:53

Thanks.
I use the plural but some people I know use the singular and wondered which was correct.

You are minuting the meeting.
You are typing the minutes.
When it is done, you will have minuted it

oggsfrog · 24/09/2008 12:57

So the document should be titled 'Minutes of meeting.......' and the agenda should list 'Minutes of previous meeting??

Yes, definitely "Minutes of (previous) meeting". It's a bit like "News" - you wouldn't say "Here is the new", it's always a plural.

AllFallDown · 24/09/2008 13:05

You have a minute of each item discussed, but the whole meeting is documented in its minutes.

However, the Foreign Office used to write 'a minute' which was equivalent to 'memos' or 'memoranda' in my office.

I'm sure they probably still do

PigeonPie · 24/09/2008 13:12

Actually, it would have been the equivalent of a Memorandum in my office!

not unless you can say 'the first new is...'

a bit like trousers, pants, knickers. tho' the fashion press do talk about 'a trouser' now, a development which i particularly like
