This must be a contender for most common spelling mistake on MN. Y/N?

"Councillor" is surely the most often mistake on MN?

I have this great vision of my local council members being overrun with women wanting to talk about their deep-seated relationship issues every time I see this!

cringe, this is me. I'm always spelling it incorrectly. must try harder.

And even worse when people pronounce it "definATEly".

Should of. That's the next most common. Instead of should've....

There used to be a radio one programme called "Is, was and should of".

Our English teacher made us all write a letter of complaint- must be where I got my pedantism (is that a word?) from.

I just did a search to see if I was one of the annoying people. Six out of six times spelt correctly so I'm definately ok. [sic]

I think the most common mistake on MN is cesarian.

I once saw a piece of writing that was done by a student for an exhibition which included the word "fanatial".
It took me ages to work out that "financial" was the word intended!

Does it really matter ??? It is a forum for chatting on, not an English exam.

Of course it matters, IllegallyBrunette. Of course, it matters less on here than in some other contexts but when poor spelling interferes with what is being communicated (as in my example above) it does matter.

Anyway, this is a place for opinions. On anything. Even spelling.
