Bare with me. Do you really want us to strip off?

And a new one. Highering. Saw this yesterday, twice, so don’t think it’s a typo. Sorry, but they wouldn’t be hired if I was recruiting.

Couldn't these just be auto correct being incorrect?

RumNotRun · 06/08/2026 22:03

I used to have a team who would often use could/would/should of in emails to the public. I explained to them that it is "have" not "of". One woman then said quite smugly to the others that it's because people say " could've" and so think it's "of" but it should be "could have". Fine. However, her messages and emails still say "could of". 🤬

We have a cupboard at work with a helpful sign stating it is not moving. No idea what’s in it.

🤣🤣

I do “Where, where?” followed by

“Ah, there, there!”

Oh, that’s reminded me of my other oft repeated post (in response to the inevitable incorrect spelling, one way or the other, of the word in question…)
“There, they’re, their” so soothing 😊. Does that make me a prick? I can’t decide.

I’m on quite a few groups with parents of disabled children, asking where they can get restbite for their children.

Whatever is in it, has to be better than the cupboard on children’s ward that was labelled “discharges” 🤢

I worked for a company where we were told not to use then phrase ‘bear with me’ as it implies getting naked with someone.

And the shelf labeled plates, cups and bowels.

It's the use of only that always gets to me. Wrongly placed, it changes the entire meaning of the sentence.

Some years ago, our local Morrisons had a huge banner at the entrance to the store glaringly announcing that "we sell only British meat"! It took a while for the manager of the store to grasp what I was saying when I politely pointed out that the store sold Marmite, washing powder, bread, ice cubes, custard powder etc, etc.

Seen quite frequently back in my working days! 😑
