"Substansive"

This is a word that is used commonly in my workplace, instead of "substantive". Drives me bonkers.

Other pearlers include;

"Rest bite" instead of respite
"Chester drawers"
"Mild asparagus" (was meant to be mild Aspergers)
"Arterior motive" rather than ulterior motive
"Dead bury" rather than debris

I sure there are many, many more I've forgotten 😂

Someone at DH's workplace filled in a self cert. He was off sick with titinus.

Where on earth do you work that your colleagues are so illiterate?!

i do love ‘rest bite’ and the idea of stopping for a brief snack so I always let that one slide.

I had a colleague who spelled the name (of another colleague) Virginia 'vagina'. They were both midwives. Reading the first colleague's clinical notes was sometimes quite confusing!

I once had a line manager who spoke about bringing projects to “fruition”. English wasn’t his first language, and n”it’s such a lovely image, that no one ever corrected him.
