“No problem”

Builder was supposed to be here over an hour ago. No comms from him. I had to run a time-sensitive errand and texted him to let him know I’d be out for ~15min, to which he replied “no problem.”

I wasn’t asking for permission, nor was I apologising, and he’s the one who’s caused ME a problem by being late - so why is he replying in a way that suggests I’m the one (potentially) inconveniencing him?

I’ve had versions of this before, and while I know I shouldn’t read into it too much, it always gets my back up!

btw, I made it back home 15min ago and still no sign of him…

It seems to have become a reply for every occasion!
"Perfect" is similar. I thought it was quite funny when I was buying something to be delivered and the staff member was filling in the online form for delivery. After every answer I gave him, he replied Perfect!
Name....... Perfect! Address ....... Perfect!
I was dying to say that I was so pleased that he approved of my name and address.
