milking, word needed

I figure pedants usually know lots of words. (I'm a retired pedant)

is there a word for the squeezing/pulling motion used in milking a cow.

TIA

(BTW, I'm retired because I live in a country where very many people don't have English as a first language. Also, I'm old and perhaps more tolerant than I was in my youth)

I have never heard of a word for it. As far as I know it is just milking or you could say hand milking.

If a cow has mastitis and you want to remove the milk/infection it is known as stripping out.

I've only ever heard it called 'milking the cow'. If you were teaching someone how to milk a cow I should think the word 'squeeze' would be used.

"Put your head against her flank, boy, and squeeze fairly high up on the teat. You'll get the hang of it, but remember, if she doesn't like you or you're strange to her, she might not let her milk come."

According to google it is called stripping. But that doesn't feel very evocative of the actual movements involved.
