i think it s fine do you mean spelling or typing

not everyone can type lol

PandaG · 22/05/2008 13:36

that is not bad spelling it is bad typing! My spelling is pretty hot, but my speed typing is pants and I have been on MN long enough not to be bothered to go back and coorect typos!

zippitippitoes · 22/05/2008 13:37

exactly i cant be arsed so you get what comes out im afradi

fryalot · 22/05/2008 13:38

you get used to it.

trust me, you get used to it.

MrsCarrot · 22/05/2008 13:38

you get used to it

anyway, your brain can work it out if most of the letters are there as you only scan it to read

EffiePerine · 22/05/2008 13:38

spellcheckers are the WORST idea for people who can't spell. You'd lose any sense there was to begin with!

tortoise · 22/05/2008 13:39

As long as i can read it i don't care!

MehgaLegs · 22/05/2008 13:40

They can spell. So if we are being pedantic you need to rephrase your title.

zippitippitoes · 22/05/2008 13:43

there arent even that many poeple who type like that i can only think of a few

fembear · 22/05/2008 14:00

I think that it is very rude and not 'charming' or 'quirky'. It says that the poster thinks that (a) typing properly in the first place and (b) previewing is a waste of her valuable time. And it doesn't matter that several hundred MNers have to waste several hundred times more effort in trying to decipher the mess.
I can (just about) forgive the odd misspelling/typo but not reams of the stuff. I don't bother reading it - if the poster is not concerned enough to make their message intelligible then it probably isn't that important anyway IMHO.

I am a good speller

I mkae my living out ofe being a good spelle

HOWEVRE I type like I am on drugs, therefore, it looks like I am a thicko.

LyraSilvertongue · 22/05/2008 14:05

Everyone can type. You only have to hit the right keys
If you can't touch type, look at the damn keys

redwino · 22/05/2008 14:06

I cdnuolt blveiee taht I cluod aulaclty uesdnatnrd waht I was rdanieg. SheikYerbouti · 22/05/2008 14:08

By them time I have prieviewd my posts and cortrected the typos, the thread has moved on, especially a Popcorn Anyone Thread.

So my shithouse typing will have to stand, I'm afraid.

If you don;t like it, that it your problem

lol fembear luv u 2

redwino · 22/05/2008 14:11

I did not just type that by the way, I cut and paste.

edam · 22/05/2008 14:12

You are right, redwino, although it would be a bit tiresome if someone wrote whole pars of muddled text. BUT importantly we look at the overall shape of a word first, rather than the letters. SO IT IS MUCH HARDER TO READ LOTS OF TEXT IN BLOCK CAPS BECAUSE YOU DON'T HAVE THE ASCENDERS AND DESCENDERS.

Squack · 22/05/2008 14:13

see I think I've officially been here too long as I read that perfectly easily.

Cod you've got a lot to answer for.

icanonlydotigers · 22/05/2008 14:14

I didn't make any distinction etween "spelling" and "typing" because the end result is the same! But I see some people are making a distinction, which nowadays I think is snobbish and outdated. (Just a personal opinion, you may disagree).
Some peopke seem to think it's acceptable to not be able to TYPE (ie find the letters on the keyboard) but do want you to know that they can SPELL, they are too busy to waste their time trying to type properly.
But if you don't TYPE properly (at least some of the time!), people won't know if it's because you can't spell or can't type, so it still gives a bad impression.
I think this is a hangover from the old days when "typists" worked in the typing pool and were considered inferior to those who dictated letters ("managers") so if you could type properly you were considered merely "skilled" rather than managerial.
But isn't it time we lost the distinction between spelling and typing now that everybody (virtually) uses keyboards and typing is more commonplace then handwriting?
Phew! That's it. No offence intended.

My children could read that too with no trouble. I think most people can. Possibly not dyslexics...

SheikYerbouti · 22/05/2008 14:15
