Is in a comic I have just bought for my dd. the comic claims it is to help young children learn to read.

Surely that apostrophe is just wrong, wrong, WRONG. 'loves' is simply conjugating the verb 'to love' and does not require an apostrophe. But I am being told I am mad and there is nothing wrong with that sentence!!!

Help world is spinning.

you are right

an apostrophe indicates ownership.
That kind of things vexes me a little bit too. Especially when you see it in brochures or official publications. How many illiterate people must that have gone through before publication

Won't be long before we see kids mags written in text speak I don't think!

My little sis just failed her english GCSE, no bloody wonder, she talks a whole different language!!!!

OOO the yoof of today!!

If the name of the fairy is "Fairy Tinkerbell love" and the sentence is referring to her latest television series or book, called making cakes, then there's nothing wrong with the sentence apart from some unusual capitalisation (should be "Fairy Tinkerbell Love's Making Cakes").

If, however, (which I suspect is more likely) the sentence is attempting to convey that making cakes is one of Fairy Tinkerbell's preferred activities, then you are quite correct. It should be "Fairy Tinkerbell loves making cakes".

or perhaps it's a contraction, and the meaning is that Fairy Tinkerbell Love is baking.

'It's a sunny day and Fairy Tinkerbell Love's making cakes.'
