His instead of he's...

What??? How does this make sense?

"I asked Simon if his coming to the party but his not because his mum wants his car and his not able to get the bus."

Like been instead of being, and would of/should of etc, is this an example of people who only read when looking at social media and don't really read anything "correct" so they don't see words spelled and grammar used properly?

It's almost phonetic spelling depending on accents

I'd never seen any of these except on Mumsnet( don't use social media much and mostly only look at gardening pages) and actually it's only been in the past few years that I've seen it on here. I'm sure 9 or 10 years ago noone wrote 'his' for 'he's' or 'been' for 'being'. I wonder what that says. Have more uneducated users joined the site, do people take what thicko influencers write on Instagram as the correct way to write, I don't know.
What I have noticed on here that if anyone comments about this subject, apart from in Pedants' Corner, they get a backlash from other people claiming that it doesn't matter at all, the poster is probably dyslexic/ has ADHD/ autism/ physical difficulties with their typing finger/ foreign/ not lucky enough to have been to school etc, any excuse in the world other than the most likely reason that they don't read books and don't care about improving their reading and writing skills.
There seems to be a culture of glorying in stupidity and a race to the bottom rather than trying to be a better educated person. Is this a peculiarly British thing or are other countries like this?
My 9 year old granddaughter knows how to use 'his' and 'he's' correctly and the difference between 'been' and 'being', 'would have' and 'would of', so why don't grown adults, it's quite bizarre.

You still do get people annoyed with you in pedants' corner. I think they see it in 'active' and don't see the topic.

Also... I'm pretty sure that noone is not a word and it should be written as no one.

Also, also... Co-op shouldn't be written as coop, which I see quite a bit online.

I have a friend who always writes his instead of he's. She actually reads plenty of novels and has an English A level!

However, in our finest Essex accents, he's and his do sound exactly the same.
