Hatrick - I have 4 children and a very hands on DP, thankfully. However, if I had 3 children and was a single parent - some ot the tips on juggling a large family might help. Don't you think?

lol to me 3 is big but not too much 4 means a new car..probably a bigger house and filling out all the seats at the dining table
Although it will stop the one thing being left in the pack or fought over scenario

hatrick I would eat it but am big enough so it just sits on the side tempting me..like the blooming easter cakes with one left..

Seriously, I think it's a great idea (shall be lurking) but maybe restricting it to parents of a specified number of children is not helpful.

As Swedes has said, the tips/advice/support will be useful to anyone who feels their parental energy is often taxed by the number of children they have - whether that number is 3 or 30.

Hatrick - Sorry you have to be excluded. But look forward to seeing you on the larger families threads when your baby arrives and you qualify to join.

I propose that there be no qualifying number of children in the large families threads. That everyone who is interested in large families (planning one, from one, has one etc) be admitted, freely.

What do you all think?

well surely it means 4 or more? that to me is a large family

I have 2 insane individuals friends who have 4 each and they found 3 to 4 ok apart from the logistics of getting out of the house etc

cars and holidays come in for scrutiny

now I find 2 hard but I wouldn't think for a minute that any advice on a 'large family' topic would apply to me tbh

I don't think it excludes anyone and anyone who takes the huff needs to take a moment to get a grip

ladytophamhatt · 25/03/2008 20:31

I found going from 3-4 really easy BUT for me being a mum to 4 felt like going into a whole differnet rhelm(sp??) of parenting.

It wasn't hard but it was/is very differnet to 3.

I have to do head counts for a start.....

ladytophamhatt · 25/03/2008 20:35

Also, IME once you go over 2 children people think you're mad, once you go over 3, people are genuinly shocked, some just cannot understand why you've got that many.

Janni · 25/03/2008 20:35

I am stopping at 3 so this has nowt to do with me. However, in the same way that I often roll my eyes at PFB concerns, those with more children than limbs must often think 'WHAT are you whingeing about?' at many of the threads on here.

I certainly don't begrudge them their space.

ladytophamhatt · 25/03/2008 20:37

actually...they can't understand why you've got would want so many.

Oliveoil · 25/03/2008 20:49

I remember moaning to my friend when dd1 was about 2 and dd2 was new saying fgs how long does it take to get out of the sodding house?

she was probably thinking oh ffs shut up your whining as she shook one of her tribe off her leg
