I feel sure it was the Guardian subs desk rather than you who made the terrible, nay egregious, error in your column today.
But just in case....
A mantel of domesticity is a shelf above the fireplace that you put cute china figurines of kittens on.
A mantle of domesticity on the other hand is probably the metaphorical item of clothing to which you wished to refer.
No, not at all, happy to help.

or perhaps the mantle of domesticity to which you refer could mean a really houseproud liquid inner planet...

nah, p'raps not.

Why don't you go pedantificate elsewhere, Bunny Ears. Don't you have Easter eggs to hide or something?

Well she is always referring to us in her columns. Whether she lurks or posts I couldn't say. Unless she is actually LL in disguise.

oh you see now I'm going to have to be on a mission to work out who she is... Hey , has that thread been done before? Let's out the famous MNers?

C'mon, they can all change name can't they?

littlelapin, don't know about near to you but Woolworths and Tescos in Archway/Highgate still had lots of Easter eggs today. I gather Tesco is selling 4 for £5 so you can get yourself 3 1 too!

RIR, I think ZW is of a different age and political persuasion to LL.

Shouldn't that be "I am her. She is me."?

5 for £5?

She only wants 1 though, elkie!

Really, LL, at his age I would only buy him an Easter egg in the hope of getting to eat it myself. DS will be not quite 2 next Easter and I won't buy him a chocolate egg if I still think I can get away with it...
