Now, look! It's time to call a spade a spade. Please use used to correctly:

(I used a spade)

I used to work there.
Eventually, I got used to his sense of humour.
You must be used to it by now.

If you're using it with did/didn't (or would/wouldn't), it changes to use:

(Did you use a spade? You wouldn't use a spade.)

Did you use to live in France?
I did use to know that, but I can't remember.
You didn't use to be like this.
I wouldn't use to say anything, but it always annoyed me.

Thank you. I feel better now. 😀

Did you use to have a life?

ILookLikeAPinkBlancmange · 19/12/2023 09:26

Oddly enough, no!

Are use all coming to the pub tonight? OR
Are used all coming to the pub tonight?

🤔

@LubaLuca

That would be yous or youse - dialect plural of you. And now I need a drink.

Interesting. My scouse friend uses 'use'. I'll let her know...

@LubaLuca

I'm sure she'll be grateful lol

How do you know? Is there a rule? I would say to a friend:

You used to live in France, didn't you?

Not:

You use to live in France, didn't you?

@ILookLikeAPinkBlancmange hello, just a gentle nudge as I'd genuinely like to know the answer 😊
