I've been noticing online dating profiles where people consistently put a space before a comma, but no space after it.
For example: 'I'm bubbly ,loyal ,open-minded ,classy ,and I like dogs.'
Obviously, normal/correct style is a space after the comma and not before (as at the start of this sentence).
I'm intrigued that somebody would be careful enough to be so consistent in this. It's not a one-off typo.
They must see correct use of space after a comma any number of times a day: in books, ads, magazines, papers etc. They've clearly spotted that a space goes next to a comma. But why put it so doggedly and intentionally in the wrong place? It's not reinforced by any usage they will see in daily life, or any level of reading.
