Mine is trundle. Although, squiffy is a close second.

Yes, I've been at the wine.

'ostensibly' is also a personal fave of mine, along with 'purportedly'..oh and 'fuck'

I like 'discombobulate' I use it all the time.

I also use 'numpty' a lot but I'm not sure that's a word I should use in pedant's corner.

'Soliloquy' and 'defenestrate'.

defenestrate is a good one, I really enjoyed learning about the defenestration of Prague in school, not for the history, just for the sheer pleasure of the word.

I like serendipity because a. it's a lovely concept and b. the word sounds so nice - very satisfying, a bit zippedy doo dah.

Cantankerous. Love it.

I also like lots of legal ones like 'quash', 'overturn', 'uphold' and 'acquit'.

Ooh yes, serendipity. Serendipitous is more satisfying to say though!

Have used both of those recently in emails at work. Spices things up a bit

Solipsism. Serendipity. Pejorative. Recalcitrant. Opprobrious. Prestidigitation. Apropos.
Pertinacious pipsqueak :)

There are lots of long, grand words that are satisfying (I've posted a couple myself). But some of the loveliest are simple words that express an awful lot. It may be sentimental of me, but 'Mummy' is one of my very favourite words.

I like a few made up words too. My daughter and I enjoy cowparsleyfication. It happens every year in the hedgerows.

Antidisestablishmentarianism. My Dad used to say it & it would make him laugh! At one time it was the longest word in the dictionary, think it's been overtaken now though by some computer term.

Velvet. Sound so rude!

a very precocious friend of my DD's used antidisestablishmentarianism once when playing hangman with me, Miranda - she was about 8 I think

she was mortified when I got it first go (the number of letters is a bit of a giveaway Grin)
