'Would you like a cup of tea?'

'No, I'm good'.

I catch myself saying this at work and I want to kill myself. I think it's because I work with yout'.

MaryAnnSingleton · 28/01/2008 12:48

oh yes, that drives me quite mad - sometimes ds will say something similar and I have to correct him ( usually,'no,I'm alright' if I ask him if he'd like a drink)

Or in a shop: "Can I get...?" instead of "May I have...?"

aaarrrghhhh

nortynamechanger · 30/01/2008 14:26

I have responded to a thread before re the 'I'm good' nonsense.

I have this conversation most days with my DH.

Me "Hello darling, how are you?"

DH "I'm good"

Me "I wasn't asking you if you had been well behaved, I was enquiring about your state of being."

Arrgh! He works in meeja and is surrounded by yoof, perhaps that is the problem.

He is not a pleb either, well brought up and well spoken (top Public School) so there is absolutely no excuse.

RosaLuxOnTheBrightSideOfLife · 30/01/2008 14:33

My forty-something brother, by way of admitting he had made a minor error recently uttered the appalling phrase 'My bad'.

JaneHH · 30/01/2008 14:36

?? My bad?! I have never heard that before!! Where (or what) does that derive from? (Sorry, I'll rephrase given the location of this thread : "from where (or what) does that derive?") )

RosaLuxOnTheBrightSideOfLife · 30/01/2008 14:47

He lives in California. Which may explain it.

JaneHH · 30/01/2008 15:29

give it a couple of years and we'll allll be saying it...

Sarahjct · 02/02/2008 20:46

Leave Christopher Dean alone!!! I love him and he can do no wrong (have loved him since 1981, I'm no Dancing on Ice newcomer btw!)

And he lives in Colorado, worse luck...

southeastastra · 02/02/2008 20:47

i hate dancing on ice/x factor things.

i really really hate with a passion 'i'm loving ...'

quickdrawmcgraw · 02/02/2008 20:50

My bad!? What does it mean? Is it 'I'm not ok?'

Dd says 'It was so fun!' grrrr
and also saw 'euuwwww!' instead of 'yuck.

RosaLuxOnTheBrightSideOfLife · 02/02/2008 21:34

'My bad' appears to me: 'No, not at all old chap, my fault entirely.'

RosaLuxOnTheBrightSideOfLife · 02/02/2008 21:34

mean, that is, not me
