"If you would like any more info please see myself."

I read this from a professional earlier. It makes me cringe!

@Choufleurfromage it is pendant’s corner…and you’ve tagged the wrong person 😉 it wasn’t me that made the error!

I hate it but don't know the formal/technical explanation for why it's wrong. I want to correct people (and can in my job 😃) when they misuse it but what should I be telling other than "Urgh, stop trying to sound posh"?

If the reflexive pronoun explanation is a bit of a pain, try just telling people that the myself etc can only be used if you have used the same subject at the beginning of the sentence. So you can't say you can contact myself, because the subject is you (which is easy to grasp), so you can only say, you can contact them yourself.

In the latest series of Selling Sunset, the British woman, Chelsea, does something similar, she keeps using whom when it should be who. I'm cringing for her as she mentions so many times how educated she is, but I think this is similar, a mistake made by somebody who is not at ease with spoken English and hasn't heard enough of it spoken properly or been corrected as a kid.

It’s my pet hate too. I find it’s normally done when people are trying to sound more articulate than they really are, as they believe that ‘myself’ is the correct, more formal version of ‘me’. Brrrrb

This. Or as someone above termed it, verbal doilies...😂

Came onto pedants corner just to see if there were others annoyed by this one. Find it so frustrating!
