"Effect" and "Affect".

I'm so fed up with the confusion of something that "affects" you and the "..
effect". I really get that it is not straightforward, you can "effect" a change, for instance, but by and large, one is "affected", ie, verb, to be affected, and "effect" is a noun", ie, " it had an effect".
I'm being unreasonable, aren't I? I realise that, but when I read the wrong use, my mind has to auto correct.

Someone who was being a pain in the arse and messing me about e-mailed me with "bare with me".

I wanted to e-mail back "Er ... no thanks 😨" but it did not seem a good time.

I keep seeing everywhere it now.

I’m university educated, work in a profession and struggle with this. Unfortunately I’m non the wiser reading this thread either. I tend to use effect as it usually looks like it fits and plus I figure I will be right half the time.
@Oneearringlost it saddens me to say it but despite the fact that DH commands analysis of the written word and spoken argument is the craft of his profession, his state/comprehensive education did not teach him to punctuate. He had to learn the rules quickly at Oxford.

The DC and I received a far better grounding in the basics. However, I still delight in using "and" to start a sentence. Principally because when I asked why Jane Austin could and I couldn't, the response of my English mistress was "because you, girl, are not Jane Austin". Good job my natural affinity was more for numbers! I am still none the wiser.
Ha, that are me chuckle.
It's not straightforward, is it?
And ( notice that!) I really hate maths, I'm sure there are plenty of maths experts around, where, to them, it just makes sense.
Ah well, maybe we pendants just have to autocorrect in our minds, but it's good to be able to come on here and share my chagrin.

Oh, and I do not attest to never starting a sentence with a preposition. There is is a beauty to that.

It's funny, isn't it?
I loved spellings when I was a child, I just got them in a way others just get maths and numbers.
But I do find it difficult to read some texts which are written poorly.
Straightforward grammar means you can read and understand.
But I completely get that some don't have that privilege.
