A warning: this isn't going to be about apostrophes.

It's more that I have read 2 different versions of this story/poem with 2 ds in the last few days. The first time, when we got through the names of the reindeer, I thought that "Donder" was a typo. But it was written as "Donder" in the second version too. Surely it is supposed to be "Donner" to go along with "Blitzen?" (i.e. thunder and lightning in German from hazy memories of school). Does anyone know whether this was a mistake in the original manuscript that editors just perpetuate, is my memory too hazy or is there a different explanation?

And yes, dh does tell me I need to get out more....

Well done Jackie. Rosa rushes off to check her own copy of the poem.
