"I'm sat" used instead of "I am sitting".

And specifically the phrase "I'm sat on my phone" makes me irrationally irritated.

That is all.

I agree and you even see it in news articles!

I also hate "I brought a new top at the shops"

Brought instead of bought is becoming weirdly common. WHY??

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 25/08/2019 14:29

Not to mention lend instead of borrow. Can I have a lend of that?

In my part of the world, you often hear "I was sat sitting at my desk when..." or "I was stood standing at the bus stop when..."

It's increasingly standard with BBC reporters, especially on Radio 5 Live.

"I'm sat here at Old Trafford"; I'm stood outside Downing Street" etc etc

I'm sat here in despair Wink

When is it appropriate to use sat instead of sitting then...

Asking for a friend Grin
