Curious about forgoing and foregoing

Is there a distinction? I was writing a post in which I said I was considering forgoing something i.e. I intend to pass it up/not respond to the invite but it autocorrected to foregoing which I understand as aforementioned / previously stated. Can anyone write a sentence using the two to display the difference?

I think they are different spellings of the same word. Might be UK/USA variations.

Ah, no.

Forgoing is going without.
Foregoing is like aforementioned.

The English language could well do without either, IMHO.
