How do I word this

I'm setting up an out of office message, and want to add that I am not in the office on particular days. I am not in all day Wednesday, or on Friday afternoons.

If I say "Please not I am not in the office on Wednesdays or Friday afternoon" does this make sense, or might people read that and surmise that I'm not in on a Wed afternoon or a Friday afternoon, but that I am in on a Wed morning.

Tying myself up in knots about this, please help!

Thanks

How about, "I will be out of the office all day on Wednesdays, and on Friday afternoons."?

"Please note that I am out of the office all day on Wednesdays, and also on Friday afternoons."

Snap Primrose!

WowOoo · 02/05/2014 12:18

Please note I'm not in the office all day Wednesday or Friday afternoon. Makes it clear enough.

Youdontneedacriminallawyer · 02/05/2014 12:20

WowOoo - that should be "nor", not "or".

DrankSangriaInThePark · 02/05/2014 12:25

No it shouldn't.

Tbh, the OP's original sentence is clear enough to me.

But then I'm dead clever. Wink

DrankSangriaInThePark · 02/05/2014 12:26

I'd go for Primrose's suggestion as the clearest of them all.

senua · 02/05/2014 12:31

I am not in the office on particular days

That's a negative message. How about "the best time to reach me is Mondays, Tuesdays or Thursdays"
Ignore Friday mornings - who wants stressy calls then!?Wink

WowOoo · 02/05/2014 12:38

youdon'tneed Yes, of course.

As from now I am banning myself from any pedant thread. Sorry Grin

DrankSangriaInThePark · 02/05/2014 12:45

Wow- you are correct. With "nor" it would be a double negative.

Thanks everyone for your help Smile
