You mean DISCREET! Discrete is something else altogether

Discreet = careful, prudent, so as to keep confidential

Discrete = individually separate, distinct, and reminds me of A level maths.

Thank you.

Thank you.
I have wondered about that.

Ooh ooh! A chance to tell you my BRILLIANT way of remembering it. Discrete has 'Crete' in it - which is an island, and separate from the mainland.

No need to thank me too much Grin

I love you homeanddry Grin

If we were to run stats do you think there would be a correlation between misuse of discrete and the use of "lol" in posts?

homeanddry · 18/12/2013 21:53

And I love you all back. I feel safe with fellow pendants Grin

Love the Crete thing!

whereisshe - oddly, I've noticed that discrete/discreet seems to be a thing that all sorts of people don't know. I work with Cambridge graduates that get it wrong Shock

Can I admit that although I knew both of the meanings I didn't realise that there were two different spellings. Blush

oooh I never knew that! There is a question "discrete lump" on a fast-track breast referral form and I just thought a thicko had invented the form.

instead, I am the thicko!
