I know that is it a word, but why do so many people confuse it with 'faint'? I keep seeing people on MN talking about a feint line on a pregnancy test and similar. It should be 'faint' shouldn't it? I thought 'feint' was a verb but I see it being used to mean 'barely visible' so often that I'm starting to doubt myself. Can anyone confirm please? Many thanks.

I'm not sure about this one. I would be inclined to say faint lines in the sense that if something is barely visible then it is faint but if you buy lined notepaper it says it is feint lined Confused

Google tells me that it means the narrowest rule in printing ruled paper and actually is a variant of 'faint' www.thefreedictionary.com/feint
