I've just been on holiday to a greek island. I couldn't find a single mistake in any of the translations into English on signs, menus etc - you get the idea.

I could walk around town (plymouth) and find at least 20.

Why can't the English manage this?

Probably because they (mistakenly) think they know the rules of grammar, so they don't check, whereas the Greek know it's not their first language so they ask for help/go and look it up.

That said, I've seen plenty of errors in English translations on Greek islands ("lamb" is often "lamp" for a start). It's part of the charm. Less charming in Plymouth Grin
