Welcome move or welcomed move?

Should you say, x is a welcome move, or x is a welcomed move??

I thought it was welcome, but others think differently and a web search hasn't thrown any light on it for me.

Can anyone help?

sorry, i'm going to contradict now, but it's "a welcomed move" - welcomed is the adjective in this case (even though it's a verb )

the move is welcomed - everyone wanted the move.

a welcome move would be a move to welcome someone - ie you go towards someone to say hello.

According to Collins ED it is welcome move.

"welcome: adj. 1. gladly and cordially received or admitted: a welcome guest, 2. bringing pleasure: a welcome gift".

Welcome Break will now be heaving sigh of relief that they don't have to change all their signage.
