"What would you like your children to inherit?

A house, a clock, the family silver?

Or something a little more valuable?"

Then the strapline -

memories start here

Can you fecking inherit a memory?

I think not.

Confused

I was very disappointed when I first found out that they aren't really under a massive dome.

ChampagneTrulyReigns · 01/01/2011 21:52

And me!

I was very disappointed that the accomodation was nothing like the adverts - more like Bultins circa 1970.

Angry

Me too Trillian. Was also upset when I found out that you can't ride a pony through the forest at their Sherwood establishment.

ChampagneTrulyReigns · 01/01/2011 21:53

Typical!

Butlins.

DD is still desperate to go, we've never been. Help me resist, I'm being worn down!

Just been looking at prices, a weekend in June would only set me back £2,799 for a treetop lodge. I reckon we could have a week in Barbados for less. Hmm

prism · 01/01/2011 22:43

Perhaps by "memories start here", they mean that as soon as you get to Center Parcs you start remembering all the other places you could have gone and had a better time for less?

KJacks · 03/01/2011 12:05

Happy New Year Everyone.

Have you thought about Bluestone? Im a massive fan, i went twice last year and the kids just loved it.

Its down in Pembrokeshire, west wales and its stunning.

UnquietDad · 04/01/2011 14:16

I used to think it was all under some giant, thermally-controlled glass dome too! Blush

BuzzLightBeer · 04/01/2011 17:11

Why can't you inherit memories? Not physically, but we pass on stories, pass on our own memories to others.

Ans is not under a giant glass dome?

ROFL....if you go to the one in Cumbria, its got its own red squirrel population, who in many cases 'perform' for the visitors...

Mimblesson · 06/01/2011 13:05

You really think it's possible to build a dome covering a 400 acre site? Blimey.

UnquietDad · 06/01/2011 18:11

I didn't know before going there how big it was! I suppose I had imagined something like the Bio-Dome with forests under a glass roof.

earwicga · 07/01/2011 23:16

Another one who was also expecting it would also be under a huge dome. It was a prize, so not booked or looked at brochures.

I took clothes suitable for being a dome. In the winter. It was fucking freezing!

FoundWanting · 07/01/2011 23:27

I saw this ad with DS and he told me he would rather have the kayak or the zip-wire than either silver or a memory.

DH thinks it is a brilliant reason to spend all our spare cash on himself, because the DCs would still have memories to treasure.

Those memories will be of sitting in the back of a car parked outside a pub and drinking warm fanta - just like our own treasured childhood remembrances. Grin

I did some work at Centre Parcs Head Office a while ago. They had a rule for all staff, front and back office, that staff could not dye their hair any 'unnatural' colour. That and the massive white crosses (4 mets tall) hidden in the trees at each park made me think it was all a bit Hmm.

UnquietDad · 08/01/2011 13:26

How odd. I've been to CP six times and never spotted any white crosses hidden in the trees. What are they for?

blowbroth · 08/01/2011 13:45

It made me and dh think that the only way to afford to go to Center Parcs is if you receive any inheritence! It is so expensive.

StiffyByng · 13/01/2011 09:47

I've never met ANYONE who didn't think it was all under a giant dome at first. That's what the ads showed.

I didn't think CP was too bad, although we stumped up for an exec lodge for a weekend in Jan. But the food was appalling. The memories I've inherited are sitting in various outlets in disbelief that somewhere that markets itself as upmarket could produce such dreck.
