Franglais pedantry in a Cif advert

I spotted an advert in a magazine for Cif anti-bacterial spray (new lemon and green tea fragrance - mmm!) with the strapline:

"le new parfum anti-bactérielle"

If parfum is masculine, shouldn't that be "anti-bactériel"? And why keep "new" in English? Do they think that readers won't understand "nouveau"? Or even "nouvelle" (given their gender confusion)?

What mag was this?

Star magazine (a bit like Heat) which came free with OK this week. I know we're not talking highbrow, but it's no excuse for crap.

Stuff like that wind me up, but they do the same thing in France with over-englishized () words.

& some teeshirts for kids can have the weirdest english phrases on!

Yes, the rest of the ad is in English. They're trying to make out that the spray has a lovely lemon and green tea fragrance, so presumably thought a little franglais would give it a little cachet.
