What's the plural of mummy's girl?

Daily mail again - no surprise.

Can't link as it was in the paper, not online (at hairdresser - please forgive me).

They think the plural as Mummies' girls.

But I think it should be Mummy's girls as it is the girls that is plural - not the mummy.

Please help me out.

(Not to mention them describing Kate Middleton's sister as being discrete.)

It does depend on whether there are many mummies or many girls.

assuming you're talking about sisters, ie one mummy, I think it's Mummy's girls.

Mummy's girls.

One mother, many girls - mummy's girls

Many mothers, many girls and the DM is (shock, horror) right. Mummies' girls.

HOWEVER if they're using 'mummy's girl' as an adjective then it's a compounded form and becomes 'mummy's' girls in the same way it would be 'pretty' girls or 'school' girls.

I hate to say it but I think they're right. They are obviously not talking about the girls of the same mummy, so to to say "mummy's" would be wrong, and I suspect, medically impossible.

I found a copy of the paper at FIL's house.

So the exact sentence:

"Recent research shows that we're a nation of mummies' girls."

I'm still not sure.
