DD 4th b day party is Sunday 4th July. Doing invites this week. Just wondered what would be the best starting time. 11.30? 12.00? 2.00pm? 3.00pm? It will be in our garden, so conscious of it being hot as well (wishful thinking). It will be a max of 1.5hours.

I think probably 1pm because it's Sunday and people try to get up later. I'm assuming the party food will be eaten at 1:30 that seems the right time for lunch on a Sunday. Hope the weather is good for you!

I'm a children's entertainer and would recommend 11.30 start. Most four year olds are ready to eat lunch at midday. Also, the earlier in the day you have it, the less time the children have to get over excited.

Avoid late lunch or too early for tea time.
If lunchtime is too much of a rush for you then start at 3.00 so it'll be tea time.
Have fun!

Are you expecting parents to stay? Bear in mind that if the party is at lunchtime, you may need to feed the adults too. For this reason we had dd's 4th birthday at 3.30-5.30 (thay ate at 4.45) and I just had a few biscuits for the adults who stayed.

We started at 10.30. we did pastries, coffee and juice for the adults. kids ate at 12. worked very well IMO.
