Can anyone tell me a good way of organising a treasure hunt for about 20 4 year olds in a village hall?
Thank you!!

DS2 (3) took part in a treasure hunt at the weekend. I wasn't there, so can't help a great deal, but I gather there was a trail picture clue cards, and a prize at the end. You would need a selection of objects where clue cards could be concealed, and the ability to draw/find pictures.

When I have done this (though at home and with fewer children).
I have searched the internet for pictures to do with my theme - eg animals, disney princesses etc. A different picture for each child.
Made each picture roughly credit card size (copy the picture into Word or similar).
Print out about 6 copies of each picture. Cut up and then laminate.

Keep one of each picture and hide all of the rest. I usually hide them in groups (one for each child in each hiding place - you will have to 'help' find the last few cards, so it helps if you can remember where you have hidden them.

Then at the treasure hunt each child gets a picture and told to find the five pictures that match the one in their hand.
When they have all six pictures (5 hidden and one given to them) they will get a prize.

Hope this helps

BTW Tesco's do some lurid stretchy catapillers that went down a treat at DD's 6th birthday last month. Most of the girls had been envious of their big brothers who already had one. Party bag only needed a few sweets and slice of birthday cake to go with the treasure hunt prize.

If you are organising a treasure hunt for 20, you might want to split the children into 2 groups of 10 to make it more manageable.

You could split boys v girls or make up 2 teams by giving each child a different coloured name badge when they arrive at the party. At treasure hunt time get the reds and greens to stand in separate areas of the room.

I've bought a kit before and can recommend this one - see this link www.lelloandmonkey.co.uk/category.asp?id=3

Thank you for all your help!

I think I may be insane having this many children to a party but dd has never had a party before and has been invited to a lot. I am hoping if I do one big one this year, I can calm it down a bit in the future (wishful thinking??).

Wish me luck!!

Oh, and if you have any other novel ideas (I think I'm pretty sorted but it's always good to hear more) please feel free to share them!
