The party's in June. We have a small garden which will obviously widen our options if the weather is nice but if it's not......! We have a small lounge and adjoining area which fits table for 4.

We can't afford an entertainer/bouncy castle etc etc this year so HELP!

Which games or activities work well with this age group? Am I being completely over ambitious to invite 10?

Anyone else done this in a similar size space space?

Thanks

Hi - we usually do parties at home and it always rains! - so its good to have a plan B.

My son still enjoyed traditional games at this age, musical bumps, statues, pass the parcel with forfeits., pin the tail on the donkey, Sleeping lions.

Treasure hunt.

The newspaper game: similar to musical chairs. Give every1 a sheet of newspaper, dance about and when the music stops fold the paper in half and stand on it. repeat a few times and the paper will be getting smaller and smaller, if any1 puts their foot on the floor or wobbles off their paper they are out.

I always have a craft activity for when you need a quiet moment - decorating a cheap notebook wuth stickers, decorate the party bag, make a puppet, treasure chest etc. lay out a cheap paper tablecloth on the floor if space is limited round the table.

Most of these games can be altered slightly to fit a theme if you're having one. We did jungle theme for this age I think.
Hope this helps

lots of running around games for the first half hour - dodgeball etc to get rid of some energy. I would get them outside at this time of year even if it's raining!
Then calm them down with the quieter games - musical statues etc.
IME boys love love love treasure hunts (as Art said) so if you plan it well you could have one that goes on for a while!

Treasure hunts are good! If the weathers bad, you can do it inside. My Mum did one for my birthday in our very small living room - she made us do it on hands and knees to slow us down! You can add tasks in, like 'Do ten star jumps' or add a scavenger hunt in.

Games like apple bobbing are good - I used to love the Doughnut Game! Tie a ring doughnut on string and dangle it from a stick, which they then have to eat with their hands behind their back

How about Make Your Own Pizzas? Get some pizza bases (or get them to make them if you're feeling ambitious!), get different toppings and make them the chefs! Also saves on the party food front Could decorate fairy cakes as well.

Wine, wine and more wine (for the adults of course). You are BRAVE!
