Myself and DP are to be godparents to my best friends DD, she is nearly 2. BF has bought her a bracelet and childs dad has bought plate and bowl set. Please give me some ideas as to what to buy!!! We were going to buy her some bonds but then when looking into it realised only the parent or grandparent can do this and minimum amount is £100 which is out of our price range really! We are looking to spend probably between 30 and £50 so any suggestions would be much appreciated!!!

my dd got some beautiful gifts which included a lovely cutlery set (childrens) some lovely eating bowls (villeroy and bosch)
the brio toys are lovely and classic and beautifully boxed
beautiful music boxes
she got some lovely necklaces which i am keeping for her
you might also find a first edition classic childrens or fairy tale book
i think for 30 - 50 you will find loads!

a bible? I was really supprised that our ds's didn't get any as everyone assumed that everyone else would do it! There are some lovely toddler bibles out there or this book would make a lovely addition to the present you bought especially for a 2yr old.

maybe something from here? this fairy tooth box is really sweet.

Its lovely to get something that they can enjoy for years to come rather than just as a child, the boys have lovely paperweights, an antique compass, print/painting, money boxes.... hth

How about: classic childrens books, bottle of wine to put away till she's 18, children's bible, cross and chain, a globe and a tenner to start up a travelling fund . . .

They're all things that can be appreciated beyond childhood, which I think is a lovely idea for a christening.
