3rd Birthday party

DS's 3rd birthday rapidly approaching - as do not have space for loads of kids partying in the house, is it worth paying £10 per head for a do at the local woodland park (great for running off all that steam!), or is it better to wait till next year to start rolling out the fancy parties? Not being tight or anything, just don't want to go too overboard and not sure about party etiquette - new to all this! TIA

£10 a head for the park?? Plus what if it's bucketing down?
I'm new to it too - DS will be 3 next month. Am hoping to hvae his party in the garden but will have to be the house if wet. I would just invite 2 or 3 friends round - much much easier

Ah no, I didn't explain myself - £10 for train ride, use of facilities, food etc...may keep it small me thinks!

I'd do a picnic in the park. You can always do a theme or hire an entertainer for a bit (puppet show/face painting/clown/balloonist) if you want to up the ante. I always find picnics (let parents come too and let them bring their own food), bubbles, some balls and rackets are more than enough to make it go well. Make some lovely cakes, take some drink along...

Fot age 3 I would stick with a family/friends party at home with nothing too structured. Otherwise hire a hall and do puppet show, tumble tots etc. But nothing that requires the chidlren to sit for very long because most 3 year olds can't!

Don't worry about party etiquette-I shouldn't get into that at any point. Just do what you want to do. At that age a couple of friends around is much nicer for them.

One of the most enjoyable 3rd birthday parties my children attended was just in a hall and they borrowed all the playgroup toys and spent the whole time whizzing around on 'ride ons'. Plus a few party games thrown in for good measure.
