Party At Legoland. I am obviously mad and need help

DS1 will be 7 in April and following a three year campaign by him we will be having his party at Legoland in March. He gets to invite 3 friends - one has an annual pass, as do all of us, so actually it is not much more expensive than a party to which the whole class would be invited.

We live relatively close so we'll aim to get there at opening time, or even before, and hope to leave after lunch. I am an optimist

My questions

  • 4 boys aged 7 plus DS2 aged 5. DS2 is completely up for all the scary rides and is now tall enough for them too, but DS1 is not actually all that keen on scary rides. Will DH and I be able to manage, or do we need another adult? So far I have an offer of help from the dad of one of the friends, but he would need to bring his other child with him too. The other child is the same age as DS2 but a bit shorter, I think, so might create complications all of his own.
  • what about all the clothes getting wet? When we go I take a rucksack with a change of clothes and a towel. I can't do this for loads of kids - do you think a towel and spare clothes for the car journey home would do?
  • I'm not planning to pay for an army of QBots. How are we going to survive the queues when the novelty of scissors paper stone wears off? I realise I should have thought about this one in particular before agreeing to Legoland.
  • instead of lunch could I just give them all a hot dog, and then feed them sandwiches crisps and cake in the car home? If we stick to plan-leave-at-about-2pm this might work. The little brother who would come if his dad came has some unusual food allergies, to further confuse things.

any other tips?

i think you can manage 4 boys between two of you easily.

why do you need a change of clothes? if they get wet on rides - then theya re wet - they won't melt.

take snacks in a rucksack for inside the place

take handheld games systems if you have them - for the queues

Take

lollipops for queues
cagools for everyone for wet rides

Think of a few word/number games other than I spy for queues.

I think two adults will be plenty.

Have a great day!

Did this for my Ds 5th birthday (and dd aged 7) and managed fine with 2 adults.

I have NEVER taken spare clothes - just tried to save any really wet rides until last thing.

They had a great time, we were there all day. We took a picnic lunch and had it while watching the show. Didn't take up much room in a rucksack.

Have fun!

Thanks for the tips - and also for reading through such a long post (sorry).

I can't stand hot dogs myself, so will take a picnic as usual.

As all, bar one, have annual passes, there's no pressure to go on all the big rides is there?
TBH I'd aim for the birthday boy's favourite to kick off the day, then maybe get them onto with smaller queues, and things like the workshops (by the cinema - i forget thename) where they get build stuff and race cars etc., the treehouse thing.
Picnic during the Johnny Thunder Show, followed by ice-cream.
Pirate Falls/Viking Splash on the way out!

Ask at guest services for a birthday badge - that way the ride staff will wish him happy birthday.

I did this for DS2, and took a shopping trolley with the picnic & cake.

LOL at paper rock scissors - that's my staple!
