My ds (5) has been invited by his best friend at school to go to a pizza making party for his birthday.

My ds would like to go as it's his mate's birthday.

But he can't stand pizza. He said he likes the idea of making it, but won't eat it at the end.

He doesn't tend to eat at parties anyway and the time of the party means, he'd be home in time for tea with the family anyway.

My question is as mum of birthday child, would you prefer my ds to turn down invite, or would you be willing to accept that he won't eat it at the end?

You should warn them that he won't eat it! I am quite sure the other kids would be very happy to hoover it up!

Will there be other things beside pizza? Like salad , pineapple, garluc bread etc

i would tell the mum. i'd be happy for him to come, because obv my child had invited him and would want him there.
but i'd like to know i could eat his pizza! lol

hey though, maybe he'll surprise himself and decide it's quite nice if he's made it himself?

If it was me I'd be more than willing for him to come and have a great time and not eat. He could bring a packed lunch. Have just had my sons friend to play after school and when everyone else had dinner he had some bread and butter as he is very fussy. They've had a great time that the main thing. Maybe speak to the birthday child parents and explain.

I wouldn't mind in the least

warn host mum, its not freakishly odd at this age to refuse to eat something or other.

I have one child coming to boys 4th party who won't eat cake... and cake is the only thing we are serving. Like yours he will be home for tea time so won't starve.

TrinityIsFuckingTrying · 05/03/2010 20:10

actually
I would like to add

I wouldn't mind in the least if the child didn't want ti eat it BUT I would like to be told so I could make sure there was something they would eat if they wanted to

I would feel gutted for the kid if I said something like, are you going to eat yours? and then he said no, I dont like pizza and then I had nothing else to give him if he wanted somehting

It's at pizza express, so don't know if they do other stuff for the kids party or just the pizza's they make. I certainly don't want any additional cost incurred for the parents to provide anything else.

That's good that everyone has said if I inform the parents it's not being rude him still going along.
