Dd (12) is having a sleep-over birthday party, so could you help me with suggestions, please, for a tasteful comedy film for them to watch?

Got to be a U, PG or a 12 certificate.

She liked Evan Almighty, and the Steve Martin Pink Panther films.

TIA

The Princess Bride is excellent.

Thanks very much - haven't come across that and will take a look at a synopsis later. Looks great.

Legally blonde? My dd loves that one

Freaky Friday

DD12 loves 17 Again, but it is not squeaky clean. She also loves Clueless.

Ooh, thanks for all the suggestions

Found Parent Trap too - do you think that's a good one?

Parent Trap is very good. And Freaky Friday.

Angus Thongs and Perfect Snogging is a great film. It's sweet and very funny in parts - a british film. It's a 12 and is not as bad as the title suggests but risque enough to be cool for the young 'uns.

17 Again is var good.

Cheaper by teh Dozen is another good one (steve martin too).

Twilight is a 12 - maybe most of them have seen it?

We haven't watched it all yet, but my 10yo and I are watching Confessions of a Shopaholic, which I recorded off sky. Its a PG. Daughter is loving it!

liliputlady · 01/03/2010 21:31

Bride Wars and Wild Child went down well, can't remember how squeaky clean they were though.
We saw "Mean Girls" recently - that was definitely a bit risque in places.

PollyTechnique · 01/03/2010 22:08

That's the trouble, liliputlady, we've got several girls coming who I don't really know and need to make sure none of their parents get offended by any film we show their dds.

Can anyone suggest something else Pink Panther-ish, Mr Bean-ish?

Any more ideas, please?

St Trinians? What about a classic, mine all love stuff like Singing in the Rain, My Fair Lady etc?

What tends to happen at our parties, is that they ALL turn up with DVDs. The DVDs are taken in and out of the player all night as everyone wants to watch 'the best bits' and they ALL talk over everything anyway.

So I wouldn't worry too much about what you choose - it won't be on for long!

PollyTechnique · 02/03/2010 17:50

Good idea re the classics - she went through a Sound of Music phase!

Depends whether they all think that sort of thing is cool enough..!
