9yo film party at home - help! never done a party at home before

DS1 is having a small 9th birthday party at home.
Max 10 boys including DS1 & DS2.

I plan to show a DVD, pause the film for an interval when they will have pizza out of the boxes, but at the table, then give them pick n mix type sweets and pop corn while they watch the film.

So,

-Is 10 too many?
-How likely are they to actually sit and watch the film?
-Party is mid March, what will be the "in" film on DVD for 9yo boys?
-I happen to have 8 Doctor Who paperbacks. Would those with a few sweets and a piece of cake be OK in the party bags?
-How many pizzas would you order?
-Any good ideas for drinks that won't get spilt?

All help very gratefully received

DD will be 9 in April and has decided she wants a similar party. Although she wants to make the pizzas and popcorn. So ours will be cooking/DVD party.

Personally I think 10 is a lot. IME girls are usually 'easier' for parties at home. Boys have lots of energy and tend to seem to just want to do playfighting! Although my boy is younger so maybe him and his friends will have calmed down before he is 9.

I was planning on 6 girls including my DD. We were going to make the pizzas. Put in oven. Watch some of DVD and then have pizzas. Then watch DVD. Then later make some popcorn...

DD says Transformers II might be a good film...

Thanks. Yes, boys through run as a gang and so he has 8 "equal" friends. I'm hoping some won't be able to come

Would you be happy to show a 12 film to 9yo's and would you let them/their parents know what the film will be in advance?

Oldest I would be happy with would be a 12A.

I would let the parents know, for 2 reasons, 1 if they don't approve, at least they have the option, to not have their child attend, 2 if they know in advance hopefully it'll save the 'I saw this last night, which would result in child being bored, and therefore more likely to not sit and watch it'.
