hello, I am thinking of organising a cinema party for DD who will be turning 8. Can anyone tell me how many would be a good number for something like this? Thinking of maybe taking in a few snacks then going for a meal after. Would 10 be too many?

hello,

I did this for my DD's ninth birthday last year. Our cinema roped off an area for us which we decorated and held a party tea there after the film. It was free but I did buy soft drinks at the bar.

Would your cinema do something siniliar?

I only saw this as DD woke up at 2am with a nasty stomach bug so I'm up for the duration, making gallons of hot milk for The Two Year Old who woke up and is now wanting to Stay Up. And I'm eating malt loaf and nearly hallucinating with tiredness.

Hope this helps, btw.

Oh and ten sounds like how many we had and it went really well. I slightly undercatered mine but pulled it off nonetheless (i think).

Hi, thanks for posting. Hope your DD is feeling better today.

I don't think our local cinemas will do that, but I can ask - they are both big, multi-screens. There are several eateries nearby, will ring round to find best deal then cross fingers for a decent film on the right date...

I find the trouble with cinmea birthdays is how do you plan it when you don't know what will be on so will watch this thread with interest

What compo said - cinema parties are good but at the screens roudn here you usually can't advance book until 1 week before, then only option is usually either expensive (well £10 per head) pizza meal or arranging lifts to transport children back to ours for cheaper home-made food and run around. Then there's always someone who doesn't turn up/doesnt confirm etc and you've paid for their ticket ...

Ten is a good number though, and dc's really like them. Just a bit of a pain organisationally!

I guess I could send invites giving date and approximate time and location... with details to be confirmed. It's not until May but I wanted to check if it was feasible or if I'd have to think of another option.

I think I might just keep on thinking...(??)

Does anyone have ideas for a fun, entertaining birthday treat for a group of 8 x 8-year olds plus 2 x 5-year olds (including one boy! - he has to come because I need my sister to help out)?
