Thinking of a pull string pinata for dd2's first birthday which is a small family party so there will be 7 children there (2 x 1 y-o, 2 x 3 year olds, 3 x 5 year old) so obv more for the older ones than the actual birthday girl.

What sort of things do you put in other than sweets or is sweets the main thing - guess I'm thinking what sort of weight do they take ?

I put sweets and bouncy balls in my one.
The kids loved chasing the balls as they scuttled off the floor.

There are pinata filler bags available on the web. This will give you an idea of what you can put in.

I put in balloons, sweets and those funny squishy rubber lizards - not sure anything else could survive the drubbing the pinatas get in our house! Like the idea of bouncy balls though.

The last one we had was a pirate one, so we filled it with chocolate coins.

They take more than you think and they are tougher to break open that you'd expect, too.

GossipMonger · 04/02/2010 17:57

where did you get the pinata from as I want one for a party in May.

butadream · 04/02/2010 18:05

Local high street party shop, sorry! It was quite like this one though.
