We're going to have a party for our one year old but I realise he won't notice/care...it's just that I fancy celebrating. Granparents want to come and I think some friends will come too, but what do we do? Eat cake and drink tea/champagne or has anyone got any ideas to liven things up/give structure? Thanks

Keep it simple. Plan around your DC nap times and make sure you don't get stuck in the kitchen, not getting to spend time with your DC on their birthday. I'm not sure structure would work for that age group so wine and food for the adults, plus the obligatory cake, balloons etc. Snacks for the little ones.

We had a family and close friends celebration at home for DD's 1st birthday. Asked people to drop in anytime in the afternoon. I put on a small spread and of course a cake and we all had some champagne. DD slept for a large amount of the time - lol. It was lovely. I would definitely keep it simple and at home if poss so your LO can sleep.

asking people to drop in between certain times is a good idea, thanks for tips.

They were all told a time to arrive. Made it easier for us.
