Hello. Please can anyone make some suggestions for what we can do for two hours. We are on a tight budget so the less spent the better. I thought they could make their own pizzas which would take up some time. We have a WII and a PS2 with singstar. I wondered if they might play twister or do a short quiz? I wondered about a craft activity? Can anyone help please? Any suggstions for food/activities/party bags much appreciated. Thanks

Good luck! our party with 10 year olds was.... quite loud.... We suggested the Mummy game, within 2 mins it descended into a 40 minute loo paper fight! (was fun, if I do say so myself)
tbh the girls didnt really want organised stuff, they wanted to dance and play and do their own thing.

fabric pens and t-shirts or pillow cases - they all sign, decorate etc each others esp the birthday girls. Also, your going home present is done.

You could have an eating doughnut game, I used to love that when I was ten! You get some sugared ring doughnuts - mini ones would be god too - then loop them onto a long piece of string and then they have to eat them without using their hands.

Or pin the tail on the donkey, I did this for my daughters Easter party - although used a bunny instead of a donkey - just find a pic of a donkey online, print it off and then get some cheap stickers from poundland.

Thanks. I like the idea of them entertaining themselves. There will be eight of them and dd2 who is 7. Tin hat and ear plugs at the ready.

The Mummy game sounds good so long as I'm not the Mummy. I could do something like pin the hat on Hannah Montannah or something? I am a bit scared that if I have nothing planned they will all go mad like rabid dogs

If your dd decides on a theme, all activities could revolve around that.

Get a bag of cheap prizes from Claire's and have a few games up your sleeve to avoid chaos - Bingo takes a while, also "word-mining" - give them a word or phrase eg Happy Birthday and see how many words of three or more letters they can make out of it. Also a "Kim's game" - 15 girly objects on a tray - they memorise them for 2 mins and then have to list as many as they can.

A quiz would be great - after each round, teams can mark each others ( fills some time!)

They could organise their own makeovers - just plonk some make up, nail stickers, bobbles etc on the table and leave them to it. You could have some straighteners/tongs at the ready if you're brave. From experience, take care with unsupervised nail-painting and furniture!

Have fun!

We did decorate your own cupcakes - shop bought cakes (lazy emoticon) with two diffrent colours of icing and various sprinkles bought cheaply in Asda

Give each child a paper plate to put their cake/s on and get them to write their name on it. When done line them all up and have a best cake competition before they are all eaten

It'll be fine - DD had a party for her 9th and I was able to spend some of it drinking wine in the kitchen as they entertained themselves to some extent - very different from when she was younger!

Also they're never too old to mess about with a room full of balloons
