Hi- we have decided to brave dd's 5th birthday party without an entertainer. It's in village hall with about 15 girls in all. I need to work out timetable to fill 2 hours. I have crown decorating, beads to make bracelets and party bags to decorate - should i do that all at once or save one craft activity for later? I am thinking 40 mins settling in/craft, 20 mins games, tea for 30 mins, pass the parcel, tattoos and then general running around/dancing for last 30 mins
Does that all sound about right?

10mins - waiting for all to arrive, everyone mingles, runs around, plays with balloons?

30mins - craft activities

20mins - pass the parcel and two dancing games

30mins - tea

15mins - couple of games

15mins b4 end - cake and candles

last 15mins - whilst cake cutting and bagging, do the tattoos.

I am inclined to think that 30 minutes of running around and dancing at the end is much too long - I would suggest 10 minutes max. or else the part is liable to descend into chaos. I think that Twinkly's outline is good except that I would do the tea and cake at the same time - but then again, I would never dream of sending cake home instead of eating it there and then - a most peculiar English habit if you come from Continental Europe as I do. If you want to stick to the English way - and everybody except me seems to think that this is perfectly normal - I don't think that you need 15 minutes for this. Have you thought of getting a Pinata for everyone to bash at the end? Or think of another game.

Hi There,

I've used the following party plan a couple of times and it's worked a treat! lelloandmonkey.co.uk/party_plan.asp
Some party games don't take as long as you think, but a treasure hunt game does keep them going longer than most. Hope this helps.
