Has anyone done the Pizza Express party thing? It's dd's 4th in Oct and I am trying to be organised for once. Mainly because if I have to go to another party at the local soft play I'm going to chew my own foot off and our house is too small to do it there....

I did one for DS3's 6th birthday and it was fantastic - by no means cheap (we had a small, select gathering!) but they all loved it, and the chef who talked them through the pizza making was great with them.

I suspect that 4 might be a bit young, though. There are a lot of instructions, especially re the dough etc., and it might be a bit much to take in. Give the local branch a call and see what they think.

Thanks Hassled - I was wondering if 4 might be too young. I'll give them a ring but maybe it's one for next year!

I would think a local hall and entertainer would be as cheap.

I would say 4 is young for a restaurant party

What a fab idea re Pizza Express! I never knew they did kids parties! Do they get to throw dough around at an attempt to make their own pizza?

Think 4 is deffo too young tho.

Thanks all - we did the hall thing last year so trying to think of something different but may well end up going down the tried and tested route!

We did it for DDs 7th, some of the girls loved it but a few looked a bit mystified as to when the party was going to start. There were far more trips to the loo than strictly necessary as that was the only legitimate way of running around.

Def not 4. 4 year olds need something more active. So do 5s - and IMO 6s too!

If anyone with older kids does do it, recommend you think of some games which can be played seated at a table - we didn't and it would have helped.

Thanks everyone - fully taken on board that 4 is too young. Will mothball and move on to plan B......

We did a Pizza Express Party for a fourth birthday before reading this thread and we had no problems with them being too young.

We went to one for a 5th birthday party. It was more for the parents than the children. The children all wanted to run around.

I went to a party that was held in a hall, and there were different 'stations', each table had a different activity. There was bread-making, jewellery making, t-shirt decorating and a fourth one that escapes me at the moment. There was also a small bouncy castle.
At this particular party of 4 year olds, the girls loved the activities, and spent a good 15 minutes at each point, leaving just enough time for pass the parcel etc at the end.
The boys didn't do the activities but burnt their energy on the bouncy castle (their choice).
