So, tis her birthday on Saturday (yes, I know...)

The original plan was to go to local play area and do games and a picnic.

She is down to 4 guests plus her (bank holiday weekend and half term - not good for people being around, plus she finds friendships hard so the list was small to begin with).

Forecast is showers

I am still throwing up a lot, plus now have antenatal depression so am getting very worked up about everything - it is all seeming overwhelming and too much.

But I don't know what else to do. My house is a no go, my mum's could be used in theory, but if so what games can occupy them for the 2 hours?

I am getting to the stage of whacking it all on a credit card and taking them to a soft play place, but that doesn't seem the most sensible option

She will be 6 btw.

Could any of the other Mums help you?

SoupDragon · 19/05/2009 12:05

What does your DD like doing?

Flamesparrow · 19/05/2009 12:08

4 girls, one boy. No real budget as whatever I am spending I can't afford it anyway tbh

I've tried looking at the cinema website but they don't give any times or anything until Thursday, which seems a bit late to be pissing about with plans really if I have to tweak times iyswim. If I go down there in person do you think they would be more help?

Cinema was my idea I had been half toying with.

I think one of the parents is helping (don't know for sure), Psycho is busy so can't help (hers is the boy).

Is she girly?

Friend used to run art/craft parties which involved making costumes (eg fairy, pirate, monster). Stuff like wands, swords, hats, masks etc. You'd need a venue and some time spent cutting cardboard blanks out.

Depending on the theme you then have stuff like pin the tail on the dragon [ouch], treasure hunts (hide plastic coins or paper clues) pass the parcel, etc...

2 hours isn't that long, what with eating and everything. You could still do a picnic, just on the floor and maybe sort out something crafty that's fairly simple, like making crowns - basic shape, lots of glue and paint and mess, lovely.

With the cinema, the kids club stuff is usually decided well in advance, so they should know what that is, but I know not all cinemas do it.

Maybe some kind of cooking activities, like decorating buns or making their own pizzas then they can just eat the results - saving you haveing to provide a party tea! Then pull the curtains, stick a DVD on and give them all some popcorn - voila, a film party!

Surfermum · 19/05/2009 12:23

I think you should do something that is least hassle for you right now.

I don't know how much the are but I like the look of these Fairy parties. They do adult ones too!

Flamesparrow · 19/05/2009 12:43

many ideas.

Will discuss with DH this evening
