Party sleep overs 11 year olds

Is it OK for them to sleep in their own sleep bags on the floor in the front room, with just pillows or am I expected to supply some sort of large blow up beds and mattresses for 5 children?

What do you do for sleep arrangements?

Any ideas for a few party games at this age?

we had a camp bed, the sofas, and an inflatable bed - borrowed. Maybe put sopme duvets down to cushion the floor? I gave them all a pillow case (cheap from morrissons) and some fabric pens and they all signed each others and decorated them. Also bought a dvd game of HSM. Good luck - I slept fully clothed in the end as they were so noisy...

I love the pillow case idea thanks.

I will feel mean if I don't provide some sort of soft bedding for them to lie on. Must see what I can sort out.

I would be a bit annoyed if my child went for a sleepover and had to sleep on the floor. They get little enough sleep as it is. Surely you can borrow camp beds or similar.

That's what I thought parents would think. But dd wouldn't mind the floor as she has camped on a thin foam camping mattresses before and it wouldn't bother her for one night.

Foofi - really I'd be awed and grateful to any parent for putting up with mine dc for a sleepover, not annoyed if they had to sleep on the floor!

Funnily enough a friend mentioned this morning that ds1 had a nightmare whilst having a sleepover on Friday night. She also said she didn't realise he was sleeping on the floor.
I'm not overly bothered about the floor but that might be why he had a nightmare as I've never known him have one.
The pillow case idea is great btw.

I wouldn't be annoyed if they had to sleep on the floor - what an odd thing to be annoyed about!

But could you put the sofa cushions on the floor? Or, as you are entering the prime sleepover age, buy a couple of blow up mattresses for them to share?

TangoFango · 20/04/2009 11:47

I have sorted out borrowing some blow up camp beds, but the children will have to float into the room as there will be no space to walk.

My dd borrows her little brother's bedroom for sleep-overs. He has a high level bed and JUST enough floor space for a double blow up mattress. She has had 6-count them, 6 - 13 year olds sleeping in there!

pointydog · 20/04/2009 14:59

sleeping bags fine. I put those camp mats under them and my yoga mat if necessary

stroppyknickers · 20/04/2009 18:18

Just have barefeet for the roon. DD's mates all just crashed/ flopped all over each other. Some parents did mention what would they sleep on, and I didi feel the need to stress safety about sleeping downstairs for some reason (e.g. windows safe/ door locked high up) Keep lots of newspaper to put inside the pillowcases so the fabric pen doesn't go through to the other side and good luck. Wd also suggest allocated snacks rather than help yourself policy! What are you doing? DH and I retreated upstairs with a DVD and a Chinese at 7pm!
